NNEC EZPAY
EZPAY is the NNEC method for you to pay your electric bill on-line or by calling 866-538-2997. EZPAY is the new way to make a payment by electronic funds transfer or credit/debit card.
Electronic Bill Payment
Northern Neck Electric Cooperative allows its members to pay their electric bill(s) automatically without writing a check. With your authorization, we will inform your bank or credit union of the amount due each month and they will automatically deduct that amount from your account. You will not have to worry about missing a payment and you will save time as well as checks and postage.
There is no charge for this service which is available to all customers including those who are signed up for Levelized Billing. You will continue to receive your electric bill each month and your payment will be deducted automatically from your checking or savings account. Your next month's bill and your statement from your financial institution will indicate your payment.
You can activate the electronic payment option by contacting our Customer Service Representatives who will send you an "Electronic Bill Payment Authorization Form" and provide you detailed information. Call 333-3621 or 800-243-2860.
Levelized Billing
The word "budget" is being used less as it implies paying the same set amount each month. With the levelized method, the amount can vary from month to month, but the variance is small compared to regular billing. Once a member is placed on the levelized plan, they will continue to be billed as levelized until the member requests to be removed or at the discretion of the Cooperative.
Home Surge Protection Program
Northern Neck Electric Cooperative offers site specific surge protectors for televisions, computers, and plug-in equipment with phone or coax connections. Each surge protector carries a warranty for damages resulting from a surge if the damaged equipment is properly connected. All claims for damages must be filed with the surge protector manufacturer.
Whole House Electric Surge Protection
HomeGuard whole house surge protection is comprehensive dual-stage protection for your home and your valuable appliances and electronics. The HomeGuard System includes a meter-base surge protector coupled with in-home plug-in devices to provide protection from damage due to voltage spikes.
The HomeGuard system uses quality UL-listed devices backed by a solid lifetime warranty to repair or replace, up to the covered amount, household devices that they fail to protect. The plug-in devices include an eight-outlet unit with 2 coaxial cable jacks & telephone cable jack, a three-outlet strip, a single outlet strip, a single outlet strip with phone jack, a single outlet strip with coaxial cable jack, and a three-wire circuit analyzer.
You can arrange for a qualified NNEC technician to come to your home to inspect the external grounding system, to install the meter-based unit, and to deliver the plug-in units by calling our Customer Service Representatives at 333-3621 or 800-243-2860. Additional plug-in units may be ordered.
Installation of the complete HomeGuard surge protection system costs $40.00. Thereafter, a fee of $4.95 will be billed on your regular monthly electric bill. A minimum one-year agreement is required which will then be renewed monthly. You may terminate the program at any time after the first year.
Load Management Program - Free Water Heater Repair
Northern Neck Electric Cooperative installs load management switches on its members' hot water heaters which are automatically operated during peak demand periods as a means of reducing its wholesale power costs. These switches cycle water heaters off during peak periods. Members participating in the load management program receive FREE repair on the heating elements, thermostat and other electrical components of their water heater.
Safety Demonstrations & Educational Programs
Northern Neck Electric Cooperative is concerned about the safety of all our members, and especially the safety of our children. Each year, electrical safety demonstrations and educational programs are presented to school systems in the Cooperative's service area. Our demonstration unit grabs the attention of young minds as it graphically portrays emergency electrical situations. This demonstration teaches the children safe practices around electricity and how to recognize an electrical emergency, and demonstrates the safe response to a dangerous situation.
Call our Public Relations Department for more information or to schedule a demonstration for your school or community organization.
Security Lighting
Northern Neck Electric Cooperative offers its members FREE installation of security lights on our existing poles or one span away on a pole set by the Cooperative. The member may request a light further than one span away from an existing pole or request that the street light wires be placed underground. In this case, the member will be charged for a contribution in aid of construction based on the additional construction costs. To take advantage of this program the member will need to sign an agreement to keep the security light for at least a year. Members are billed monthly for the security light(s) in accordance with the Cooperative's Street, Highway and Homestead Lightning Service rate as filed with the Virginia State Corporation Commission. The security lights installed under this program are owned and maintained by the Cooperative. Repairs to or replacements of security lights are made during the Cooperative's normal business hours.
Tree Trimming Service
Northern Neck Electric Cooperative will cut and/or trim trees which endanger its power lines at members' requests. If you have a tree that you would like cut down, please contact our office first. Cooperative personnel will come out and determine if the tree is a danger to our line. If it is determined to be a danger, the Cooperative will either cut the tree for the owner, if possible, or disconnect the service wires so that the tree can be cut safely. Please do not attempt to cut or trim any limbs away from the power lines.
NNEC Toy Trucks
Northern Neck Electric Cooperative toy trucks are now available. The 11" X 5" scale model bucket trucks and auger trucks serve as savings banks as well as very realistic models of the Cooperative's trucks. The trucks feature working headlights that turn on and off and a moving bucket boom or auger.
Trucks require two (2) AA batteries (not included). The cost, including sales tax, is $22.99 each (if picked up at the Cooperative's office), plus $5.00 shipping and handling (if mailed).
Electric Gift Certificates
Electric gift certificates are available in even dollar amounts of $5 or more. You decide the amount you want to give and we will credit the recipient's account and prepare a certificate that we will either mail to the gift recipient or send directly to you for personal giving. The certificate tells the recipient exactly what amount to expect as a credit to his/her electric bill.
